Grandchildren -another 3D consumer world.
We had two of the grandchildren last week. Two boys. Cousins. One aged 9, the other, 6.
Individually polite and helpful. Put them together and the Taliban could take lessons. What both the beloved and I learned is that there’s a whole new set of negotiation skills required, but that most things are able to be coped with by the chock-top and movie method.
How easily they slip ino the new movie technology. Glasses on, expecting 3D as if it were totally normal. Indeed, one said as we drove home from the cinema,”Hey, Grandpa, everything is in 3D without glasses.” Science lesson completed.
The coming attractions in 3D will leave IceAge behind. It was good 3D but the new trailers were astounding. How long before that technology is in our lounge room? Soon I suppose. But what’s next? The Brave New World of “feelies?”
Whatever it is, thank you grandchildren for dragging me into the 21st century even if it were just for 90 minutes or so. The real 3D world needs to be escaped sometimes.
