LHR wins no awards…except

It’s award season again in our industry. If I’m honest, (there’s a curious phrase for an adman) I really do care that we have missed out. Even on the shortlists. It is partly jealousy at very clever people who have been able to achieve remarkable approaches to very similar problems and have managed to make their client’s communication outstanding in the best sense.

Interesting. Attractive. Unique. Appealing. All those things. Congratulations to them in what is currently a very difficult environment. Is this then a spray? Hardly. It is the endless debate of what is really important.

The LHR team produces over 300 advertisements every week, sometimes against impossible odds of the dread deadline. All of them considered, workmanlike and, in the end, effective. In a client’s office this week the LHR team got the best award of all. “These ads are really just right. What we wanted and better.”

I’ll settle for that award anytime.
